| BOOK 2 WHEN EAST BECAME WEST by Craig B. Snyder A work which has been underway for over two years now, this book of photography and stories by Craig B. Snyder tells the other side of the story. That other side is the East Coast. Like its counterpart California, Florida became a hotbed for skateboarding in the 70's. This revolutionary era of skateboarding was for the most part the by-product of Frank Nasworthy's introduction of the urethane wheel combined with coastal populations which their strong surfing ties. As a skater with humble beginnings on the sidewalk in front of his house in 1965 in Hollywood, Florida, and later as a budding black & white photographer with a brand new 35mm SLR camera at the beginning of the seventies, Craig Snyder was there to capture it all, from the first Ollie by Alan Gelfand to pre-teen wonders and future superstars such as Mike McGill, Rodney Mullen and Chris Baucom. As a portfolio of Craig's photography spanning 1975 to 1980skateboarding's Golden Erathis book is further illustrated and punctuated by the stories and Craig's first-hand historical account of that most influential period. These stories from Craigas a skateboarder, board maker, photographer and chauffer to skateboarding's rising starsare conversely illustrated by his photography, art and various memorbilia which appear on the pages of this large format book. Due for release in 2008, following "A Secret History of the Ollie", WHEN EAST BECAME WEST will be a landmark book that will tell the untold and show the unseen. More information will be available on the book's website in the months to come along with photo galleries and a preview of the content. Release Date: 2008 Official website:
